The headline

Mobile performance is the core issue. Every page template scores far worse on mobile than desktop (average 45 vs 71). The root cause is heavy JavaScript blocking the main thread: mobile pages ship roughly 1.2 MB of JavaScript and spend 7 to 14 seconds of CPU time, producing a median Total Blocking Time of 3.1 seconds. The same pages load about 15 KB of JavaScript on desktop, where blocking time is near zero. Desktop is broadly healthy apart from image weight and some layout shift.

Prioritised recommendations

P1Cut the mobile JavaScript bundle
~1.2 MB JS and 7 to 14s CPU on mobile drive 2.3 to 7.5s of blocking time. Single biggest lever for the mobile gap.
Fix: code-split and defer non-critical JS, remove unused libraries and plugins, audit third-party scripts. Target TBT under 600ms. Affects nearly every mobile template (Metrology blocks 7.5s).
P1Fix broken LCP and zero-score pages
Location Detail 23.4s and Author Listing 17.8s render main content very late; Author Detail and Blog Listing score 0 on mobile.
Fix: re-test these URLs, check for render-blocking resources, slow hero images and failed requests; lazy-load below the fold only.
P2Compress the image payloads
Industry Listing and Material Listing load ~33 MB of images on desktop, ASTM 31 MB; mobile listings 4 to 6 MB.
Fix: serve WebP/AVIF, size responsive images correctly, enable lazy-loading. Aim for total page weight under 2 MB.
P2Eliminate layout shift (CLS)
Author Detail desktop shifts 0.69 (very poor); Home, Services Listing (0.18), Industry and Material Detail (0.13 to 0.16) exceed the 0.1 threshold.
Fix: set explicit width and height on images and embeds, reserve space for late-loading elements, preload fonts.
P3SEO and Best Practices cleanup
Location pages score 50 on SEO; Material Detail is served over http (mixed content); mobile Best Practices sits at 37 to 54.
Fix: add meta and structured data to Location pages, force https on Material Detail, clear console errors and deprecated API usage.
